What's Your Type? And My 1000th Visitor!

So, I DO have some new blogs coming this way soon. I'm just waiting to get some pics developed first before I post them. In the meantime, I took another quiz and thought it interesting that it came up with this result considering that we are headed in a more agrarian direction:

What Type of Homeschooler Are You?

Swiss Family Robinson

If you can grow it, pick it, preserve it, or butcher it, you own it. Otherwise, you do without. You'd prefer to live off-grid from the power company, since you're nearly self-sufficient already. You enjoy unit studies for the way they utilize all facets of life and truly incorporate life and education as a whole, not as separate entities.

Take this quiz!

So, I'd be interested to hear what type of homeschoolers visit my blog...whether you take the quiz or not. And just in case you are wondering...we do own the book and the movie and my boys, especially, love them. And yes, the unit study thing has been tried before around here. It's good and, yes, the info sticks, but I end up exhausted and too grumpy to teach what I am REALLY supposed to be teaching...God's Word (Deut. 6:4-9). Once we got that part straight, I felt better, had less guilt, and started homeschooling in the right priority..."Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you..." It's amazing how things just began to fall into place after that! Hmmmmmm...do you think the good Book says the above for a reason? Just my two cents.

Also, thank you to someone in Nashville, Tennessee, who last week became my 1000th visitor! Thanks for breaking the four digit barrier for me! I don't have any prize to give you, but I will make an effort to keep on blogging about the good life as we have found it here in our tiny corner of God's world! Thanks everyone for all of your visits! I look forward to learning more about you as time goes on.

Salvador Dali here.

But that is very far off. I am not an unschooler, in fact I tend to Classical/Charlotte Mason style.

I absolutely love the dress you made for your little doll.

Like Donna, I too am labeled an unschooler! I have finally admitted to it, though I am a classical/charlotte mason style too. It is just that I am organizationally challenged...so it looks more like unschooling than anything else!

Donna and Margaret,

I understand this unschooling thing! I know so many who are doing this. It's almost (at times) what I do also...depending on the season and whether or not there is a new baby in the house.

Either way, I tend to think that we are all a mix of styles...not just one specific style though we may gravitate toward one more than another.

One thing I think we can all agree on though, is that we all love our children very much and desire to pass our faith in Christ on to them first and foremost.

It's so wonderful to be in a community of believers (be it where I live, online, or the Christian homeschooling community at large)where I can learn from others' styles and the knowledge they have gleaned over the years in schooling their children. Wouldn't you agree?

I'm Swiss Family Robinson too! You can tell by my 2 favorite magazines... Backwoods Home and Countryside. I also love MaryJane Butter's Farmgirl stuff. I can fall in many of the other categories also. I actually had my 21yo dd helping me because some of them were so close. Write now we're in the beginning stages of a unit on WWII, and tomorrow night we will have our first WWII ration dinner. If you have any ideas, let me know.

I think we may be close together, but I'm not sure. If you want to e-mail me through my blog, we can talk about it. We're going to be making a trip to the Hill Country in November to go camping, which may open up some opportunities to meet up. We have so many of the same interests.

In Him,
Lora

Lora,

If you are going to the Hill Country of Texas, you are about a year and a half too late to see me there. We moved to Virginia last year. But if you are ever out this way we can talk about meeting up then! What an encouragement that would be!

BTW, we love Back Home and Countryside Mags as well!

I'm Kendra in Boerne, Texas. (the Hill Country) This quiz was fun!
Abraham Lincoln You have a Bible and a library card what more could you possibly need? You prefer the Charlotte Mason Method of reading living books for everything: historical fiction, biographies, real histories, nature guides, etc. No soon-to-be-outdated textbooks for you.
